HAWTHORNE SET TO OPEN ON OCTOBER 1ST 

FALL RACE MEET WITH HIGHER STAKES, MORE HORSES AND MORE PARTIES

 

"Chicago's Hometown Track" will Re-Open October 1st with Rocktoberfest, Followed-up by The Gold Cup Stakes on October 8th featuring Contenders for the Breeders' Cup National Championships

 

 

OPENING WEEKEND: October 1st and 2nd

Hawthorne's Rocktoberfest will feature live music on October 1st and October 2nd by local rock cover bands bifunkal (Saturday) and Sunfallen (Sunday), as well as an outdoor barbeque and pig roast both days.  Hawthorne will be giving away additional cash and prizes all weekend after every race, plus the first 500 fans through the gate will receive a FREE beer mug.  Weekend beer specials are just $5 for a 30oz mug!

 

$2 FAN FRIENDLY FRIDAYS: October 7th thru November 25th  

Every Friday through Thanksgiving, Hawthorne will feature a 3PM late post so new fans can kick-off the weekend early.  Friday admission is just $2 (inclusive of a live program) and the track will feature $2 draft beers (16oz) and $2 hot dogs.

 

GOLD CUP STAKES: October 8th

Hawthorne's signature fall race, the $500,000 Grade II Gold Cup, has produced several Breeders' Cup starters in recent years and is expected to feature as many as four contenders for the November championship stakes this year.  Seats in the Gold Cup Dining Room, with private table-top HDTVs and an all-you-can-eat buffet, will sell-out.  For reservations call: (708) 780-3733.  The Gold Cup Dining Room will also feature "a bottomless Bloody Mary bar"; $5.95 every Sunday.

  

CAMEL & OSTRICH DERBY: October 16th

Hawthorne will host its 5th annual camel and ostrich races on Sunday, October 16th.  These non-wagering races have quickly become a fan favorite at the track.  Professional jockeys and other track personnel have climbed aboard the exotic animals in a homestretch sprint. 

 

BLACKHAWKS' COACH QUENNVILLE PARTY: October 23rd

Chicago Blackhawks' coach Joel Quennville will be at Hawthorne Race Course on Sunday, October 23rd signing autographs for fans and sitting-in during Hawthorne's Race Day Preview Telecast to offer his insights on the days races.
