Giant Oak Retired, Standing at Millennium Farms

Multiple Grade 1 winner on dirt, Giant Oak has been retired from racing and will stand at Millennium Farms as property of the Virginia H. Tarra Trust and Millennium Stallions. He will stand for a fee of $7,500, live foal, stand and nurse.

Bred and owned by the Virginia H. Tarra Trust, Giant Oak began his career as a juvenile by winning his first two starts and went on to win two grade 1 events on dirt, the 2010 Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs and the 2011 Donn Handicap at Gulfstream Park. In his four year racing career, Giant Oak won on dirt, turf and synthetic while placing in 15 graded events including the Breeders’ Cup Marathon (G2) at Churchill Downs in his last start. His career tally is 31-5-5-6 with earnings of $1,484,829.

“We are excited to welcome Giant Oak to Millennium Farms at the conclusion of a stellar racing career,” said Millennium Farms owner Ro Parra. “He won two grade one races on dirt, was graded stakes placed at two, beaten a neck, and is Giant's Causeway's top-earning colt on dirt, with $1.2 million coming on dirt surfaces. He ended his racing career with nine straight Thorograph ‘zeroes’. We plan to support him in the breeding shed.”

"Giant Oak has taken the Tarra family on a great ride for the last four years, and now it is time for him to move to his next career," said Rudy Tarra. "We look forward to breeding our mares to him and seeing his first runners hit the track."

Giant Oak was durable and versatile as a racehorse. "In four years in my barn, he never missed a day of training, never missed a planned breeze, and never missed a race we pointed him toward," said trainer Chris Block.

Giant Oak is available for inspection immediately at Millennium Farms. For more information, visit www.millenniumfarms.com

Giant Oak will join stallions Even the Score, Student Council, Will He Shine and Zanjero at Millennium Farms.
