Trainer Linda Rice wins 1000th race
According to statistics provided by Equibase Company, trainer Linda Rice won her 1,000th race on Sunday, July 17 when she sent out Sextant in the ninth race at Belmont Park.
Editor’s Note: Training under the name of Linda Rice-Appleby, Rice also compiled a record of 21 wins, 12 seconds, 15 thirds and earnings of $433,967 from 102 starts during 1988-89, bringing her total win count to 1,021 through yesterday.
